So (like most of us) I was nominated for the MND/ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
First up by comic duo Beards & Boobs, then by Dara Munnis, Neasa Ní Dhomhnaill, Iwona Spik, Joseph Hoban & some people on twitter too.
I appeared as a guest on Late Lunch Live on TV3 with the lovely Lucy Kennedy and after the show herself and the equally lovely Jim McCabe did the honours!
I didn't nominate anyone else but as it was well over the 24 hours since my first nomination I have donated €100 to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
I just want to say to those who are annoyed/confused/fed up of seeing the challenges across their Facebook & Twitter pages...think of the bigger picture. It's not about the challenge. It's just a clever gimmick to spread the message and it's working wonderfully! Hurrah!!
Regardless of whether you do it or not...it's simply about spreading the word and donating.
Yes,it's silly & completely ridiculous but to me it's the internet at it's best.
Taking a really simple idea, it exploding on social media and resulting in massive awareness & much needed funds.
I'm sure like me you've seen some very moving videos from sufferers of the disease.
So nominated or not let's keep the donations going.
