GIà colonna sonora del film "2046"...vola sulle immagini di "Vacanze romane" (1953) diretto da William Wyler... e sottolinea il dramma di una storia d'amore destinata a durare solo poche ore...
Non tutti sanno che... inizialmente la regia era stata affidata a Frank Capra. Il ruolo del giornalista Joe Bradley era stato proposto a Cary Grant e la principessa avrebbe dovuto essere Elizabeth Taylor.
Invece fu talmente brillante il provino alla Hepburn che meritò il ruolo che l'avrebbe resa celebre in tutto il mondo, oltre ad attribuirle l'Oscar come migliore attrice, su dieci nomination ricevute per il film, al quale andarono altri due Oscar, per il soggetto e i costumi.
La scena della Bocca della Verità...fu un'idea di Peck e la reazione della Hepburn talmente spontanea che Wyler volle tenerla...
Il film rese famosa la Vespa in tutto il mondo.
