I can't understand the German, so don't know what "clues" are spoken, but I'm convinced it was a practical joke played on the assistant by the photographer. If he doesn't give it away in what he says to the video camera (as I said, don't know what he's saying), he's just keeping the joke to himself. The video crew would not have been let in on it beforehand, otherwise they would have caught the action better. Could have been spontaneous too... seeing how close she was to the edge, knowing he'd already got all the pictures he needed, and giving her the direction to move just a bit further around.
