Enjoying record warm temperatures in the mid- to high 70s, 119 enthusiastic jumpers participated in the eighth annual WHSM-Regional Hospice Services Polar Plunge Saturday, March 17 on the ice of Lake Hayward.
The event grossed $16,000 from jumpers and sponsors.
The timing of the annual plunge came none too soon, as the Lake Hayward ice had disappeared by midweek, thanks to a stretch of unprecedented warm weather.
