Nadando en el rio 2010Feb
Swimming in the river (Bonao, Dominican Republic).
The medical team from West Acres Baptist Church (Evans, Georgia, USA) had done a clinic the prior year in Bonao, Dominican Republic. So when the Dominicans heard that West Acres would be in Port-au-Prince after the earthquake, they travelled to join us.
Some of the ladies of the Dominican group are nurses. They helped tend to wounds and even helped deliver the baby!
The Dominicans left the same day as West Acres. I stayed behind for a couple extra weeks in Haiti, but the Dominicans made me promise to visit them on the way back. In need of some good rest and relaxation, and thinking we might be able to solidify friendships, I agreed.
I stayed at the home of Mary, the leader of the group, with Mary, her mom and her dad the pastor. Mary's sister is a doctor and lives upstairs. They made me see the doctor for my intestinal deviations.
It wasn't all bad. My stay in Bonao was quite relaxing. We even went for a swim in the river!
