This 2 minute 30 second video clip is a commercial break during WTBS Night Tracks recorded in 1983. The video tape recording was made off of a 30+ year old betamax tape that was recently transferred to digital files for preservation purposes.

This clip is a low-resolution video file and appear best when viewed at low-resolution.

Night Tracks aired on Friday and Saturday nights on "Superstation WTBS" from 1983 to about 1992. Bob Coburn is believed to be the announcer.

This particular program likely aired on Friday December 30 or Saturday December 31, 1983.

The commercial break includes the following ads:
Peter Schilling, Elektra Records, "Error In The System"
Jordache Jeans "You've Got the Look"
Maxell Audio Cassettes classic commercial for their "high-fidelity tapes".
SuperStation WTBS Saturday Night movie ad for Barbra Streisand's "Funny Girl"
Then, the intro to Night Tracks.

Night Tracks played an important role in 1980's music. It is said that MTV would not play Black entertainers or artists prior to December 1983 (Michael Jackson's Thriller premiered on MTV at that time).

I have requested permission from Youtube to post the entire 3 hour music video block from Youtube for educational and academic purposes. The reason is that the Night Tracks play list is clearly multi-cultural and international. The 3 hour entertainment block includes Annie Lennox, Men at Work, Stevie Nicks, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Boy George, Spandau Ballet, and more.
