Carol Vorderman gunged on Noel's House Party (full build up)

My favourite celebrity appearance on this show. Noel's devious nephew has invented a new "gunge guard" which will protect the drinker from being gunged. Noel has just said that they need a volunteer to test it out when the door bell rang - it was clear that whoever it was was going on a trip around the great house. I remember watching this live and will always remember my pubescent excitement when it was revealed that one of my crushes, Carol Vorderman, was behind the door. The audience were just as happy as me, though probably for different reasons! Carol knew (roughly!) what she was in for, but had still done her hair and make up nicely, and was wearing a nice skirt and tights. After she "drank" the potion, there was a gap of about 20 minutes when they went to another segment of the show - needless to say I couldn't wait to see what would happen. I was not disappointed!

Poor Carol gets a harsh, but thoroughly well deserved (and at that point in the 90s, long overdue) gunging. Although it was clearly a set up, I can't help but notice that Carol looks upset after she is doused in green gunge, and her voice is trembling as she shouts out. I think she got a bit more than she bargained for when signing up for this! Things get much worse for her though as a deluge of foam is sprayed directly into her face. She barely has time to take this in before a mountain of soap powder is also dumped on her under the fireplace. Carol had recently been sacked from presenting Tomorrow’s World because she had appeared in an advert for Ariel washing powder, making use of her supposed scientific credentials. It was a nice touch to add to her humiliation. All of the substances form a nice sticky mess, and she is barely recognisable by the end. Perfect! Haha
